Football, 10 months old, and Goodbye Lakehouse!

We've found ways to keep entertained during the less than pleasant weather that is Chicagoland winter.  One activity has been watching playoff football and making picks.  Noah picked the Saints last week and recalled their symbol was a fleur de lis; he pulled out his 3 musketeers cape to rally them on.
Sam tried his hand in baby care...
And Isaac turned 10 months old.  I forgot how difficult it can be to wrangle a 10 month old for a decent photo, stinker!

 "You guys napping here, huh?"
The boys and I took our final trip up to the lakehouse.  My parents are in the process of clearing things out for the new owners.  So we had to get our fair share of last memories.  One last trip to Lunker's to have dinner with the fishes.
Noah had his first dodo (donut) at the lakehouse, as did Sam.  So we had to carry on tradition for Isaac.  He was happy to oblige!
Noah definitely is the one who is going to miss the lakehouse most.  He had me take his picture in every room so he could remember them all!
But despite the sadness, we know that it's on the bigger and better things!  So see you later Diamond Lake.  I'm sure we'll be back again soon to visit!

A reaaaaaally long holiday break!

I'm not sure if it's January or February, it feels as though we've been trapped indoors for months!  If you don't live in Chicago, I'm sure you've heard about our crazy weather.  We have about 1-2 feet of snow on the ground with drifts MUCH larger than that.  And we've had no return to school Monday or Tuesday due to extreme cold.  Our thermometer has been stuck below zero for 48 hours now.  But the last couple weeks have also brought us a lot of fun spent with friends and family!

The day after Christmas, the Worst family was gracious enough to offer up some free family passes so we could all go to the DuPage Children's Museum.  My crew hadn't been there before.  The Worsts and the Schwantzs met us there.
There was a great bubble station that Noah really loved.
I'm pretty sure Sam would have stayed at the water area all day!

The wind tunnel!
Sam and Leo had a grand time with the ball ramps.
The light/shadow area was a big hit too, with glowing pegs and pegboard.
Isaac was happy to ride in the stroller to watch the mayhem and glow in the blacklight!
The music area was also loads of fun!

We ended playtime at the trains, did lunch and hit the road, it was a great day!
We've had lot of time with our neighbors from across the street, Deven and McKenna.  We tried out some tattoo mustaches Santa brought for us.
We tried out a 3 boy bath, which Isaac found HILARIOUS!

Add some shaving cream and it's a party!
We've also had plenty of snuggly couch time too!
Go Bears!  They may not have won, but at least we looked good!
The boys and I set up some NFL playoff brackets.  It's ON!  Winner gets to pick a dinner location at the end of the season!
Uncle Danny got the boys this cool Build/Destroy set.  It comes with a playdough like building clay that you can make into bricks.  Mike made them both castles.
Then it was bombs away with the catapults!

I took a nap with Sam where he literally slept on my head!
Before the bottom fell out temperature wise around here, the boys got plenty of play time in the snow while Mike shoveled and shoveled, and shoveled!

Isaac got out for a bit, but he prefers to watch from the safety of the garage...
Mike dumped all the snow from the deck into a pile and then proceeded to launch himself off our 2nd story deck into the pile.  Noah thought it was fantastic, I'm just waiting for our first ER trip!
This is how Ellie prefers to experience the weather, I open the window for a bit for her to get a sniff of the air.  She has little interest in actually going outside.  Barking like an old lady from the window is just fine by her!
We had a massive gingerbread/playdate at Ari and Hugo's house.  It was great to get out and play with several different kiddos.  Candy always make a party a hit too!

Sam discovered Dan's collection of pinball/video game machines and was a happy camper!
Lunch with 8 kids, no problem!  We're starting to get good at these crazy playdates!
Noah has been an extraordinary big brother/helper guy lately.  He wanted to do Isaac's bottle one afternoon.
We tried out a Pinterest recipe for snow ice cream, yep using actual fresh snow.  It was quite tasty!  I'm sure the sprinkles helped.
Mike and I created a couple indoor obstacle courses to help get some bouncy energy out.  Then I remembered I had old solo contest band medals so we had an awards ceremony and everything!
So now we try to survive our (hopefully) last day of house arrest.  There has been a lot of movie watching and snuggling.
Oh, and some fort making of course!
Hope everyone stays warm!
