Sam turns 9!

July continues to be a month full of wild fun.  Isaac was able to have sleepovers with grandparents this week, he loves having his own special time with them.
Sam got his money's worth for a shaved ice at the local pool!
We started off Sam's birthday celebration weekend with a trip to Taco Bell.  Since only he and I enjoy it, it's a rare occasion.  He pounded through a burrito, taco, nacho fries, and cinnamon twists.  Maybe 9 is the year he sprouts!
On the day of his party, we were able to have his friend, Leah over to play for awhile beforehand.  They had a great time playing and visiting with Barry.
Sam opted for a friend party at Rockin Jump, the local trampoline place.  He had 7 guests and 2 brothers come to celebrate with him.  Dodgeball was very popular!
Sam was happy to spend time with his friends from school!
Cake maker dad came through again, this time with a rock cake!

On his actual birthday, we celebrated with cinnamon rolls and bacon!
Noah was off on his special sleepover, so Isaac, Sam and I went on a special hike around the Spring Valley area, it was lovely!
And of course we wrapped up all the birthday fun with a trip to DQ.  They loved the new sour patch kid flavored blizzard.
Sam got a lot of cool birthday presents, he's really been enjoying the nerf style bow and arrow set out in the field across the street.  Isaac is happy to fetch the arrows for him and mom is happy to have them outside running around!
In other news, Mike is switching jobs.  He is wrapping up his last week at Maxxim/BV and his coworkers gave him a "super soft" parting gift (if anyone watches Letterkenny, they might know the reference).  The team knew just what he liked, diet coke, chocolate, and generous giftcards to the movies and arcade!
So, Sam is 9 and we are still cranking out the summer fun.  Looking forward to our next adventure - a trip to Mexico and time off with Mike!

Michigan delivers a good time, again!

So, after Iowa, we had one whirlwind 24 hours to turn around and pack again for a week in Michigan.  We checked on our vegetables, and the peas were ready!  They were delicious!

We arrived to our rental in Cassopolis, Michigan on Diamond Lake and had a little time with Uncle Josh before he had to go back to work.

We had plenty of gaming time with Bamma, Noah has recently become obsessed with Solitaire.
We really enjoy the beach area at our rental!

We also were fortunate to have a pontoon rented by Uncle Josh, it was perfect for cruising around the lake!

Noah enjoyed some kayak time too, he and I were able to kayak all the way over to the island and back.
More boating, Noah looks like he's ready to drive!

We went to the barge and waited for my cousin Apryl to arrive all the way from Arizona!

More Bamma lessons, this time on crosswords!
We did a little patriotic dessert with Bamma too!

Nothing to see here folks, not my impaled brother on the shore or anything...move along.
Bamma found an old candy shop, and just HAD to take the boys!
We could not believe that Isaac could find his favorite food, eggs, in candy form!

Sam was our master shell hunter, he threw back the ones with creatures living in them!
He also spent a good 2 hours on this wood puzzle and FINALLY got it!
 Kayaks with Kjersten!
The ice cream truck made it down to our cul de sac and we had many happy customers!
We did a few snakes, some pop its, and some sparklers to celebrate the 4th!

CJ came for a sleepover and Bamma got everyone some slushees, at 9am!
Over on the island, Dave and Deb have resurrected the old pouf that used to be at my parents house.  I had to try it out, only to be squashed!

The island parade was on the 6th, and was superhero themed this year.
Because of work, Mike wasn't able to come during the week, but he made it in time for the parade!

OG cousins reunited, Whitey would be proud (maybe, actually probably no). We miss you Maggie!
Lots of jumping contests, I'm not sure who won, but it was probably me!
Emily enjoyed herself (as long as Josh and Kjersten were RIGHT there).
I went to get the boat and found the dreaded swans that attacked Sam and I a couple years back.
We sat and enjoyed the fireworks on the boat!

We also celebrated all the summer birthdays and a special 50th birthday party for my cousin, Deewee.  It was such a fun week!
We returned home to some fun with friends.  We were able to see Erin, Owen, and Connor.
 More kitty time!
And we had a lovely day with Noah's 2 friends Ari and Maya.

We tried out a donut spot in Western Springs with Bamma, soooooo good!
And I had some time with my cutie, Addison, while Faith and Evan took the boys to all see Toy Story 4.
More free time means Sam gets busy with boxes!
 And haircuts for some!

Now we gear up and get ready for Sam's 9th birthday!
