Sam's 6th and more summer adventures!

Well, middle man has officially turned 6!  I still can't believe it!  His birthday fell on a Friday this year so we started the day with some presents.
He went for a classic Tom and Jerry theme this year, so I had to DIY the decos.
He really wanted to do mini golf on his actual birthday, so despite the heat warnings we headed out to Coyote Crossing for 18 holes.
We did the whole course in 30 min, these guys were running!  But it was a lot of fun.
We did some party prep that night, complete with giant ridiculous prop hammer.
Noah completed his 3rd Lowe's project, this time it was Thor.
We had some "Tom Treat's" for everyone to enjoy: goldfish crackers, strawberry mice, and swedish fish.  Jerry's treats were mostly cheese flavored chips.
 The cake turned out perfectly!
This kid is the embodiment of joy!
It was extremely hot, so we did most of the festivities inside.  Including the pinata.

A few well timed hits from the kids (thank goodness our local baseball players, Deven and Makenna were here) and the candy rained down!
Sam got some skates from Uncle Josh!
Isaac had a blast playing with his cousin Nick (who is just the best, most patient oldest cousin ever!)
It took some adult support, but he looks good!
Later that night, some face swapping hilarity with the Townsends.
The next day, Sam got to the business of testing out all his gifts.  Play dough dentist kit was a hit!
Light up soccer ball and cones, pretty cool too!
 Pokemon backpack, very trendy!
After a doctor check up (Sam rocking the 10th percentile and Noah at the 75-85th), Sam had his sleepover at Bamma and Bampa's house.  A shopping trip with Bamma resulted in the world's biggest slinky.  Isaac is in heaven!
 Doing some balance work...

Another item on the summer bucket list was painting.  We got out all our supplies and did a little art studio out in the driveway.

By the end, we were a mess but it was awesome!

We did an evening swim trip as a family, it was very fun to go after dinner.  Isaac needed to test out some new goggles, he refused to take them off the entire time!
Ice cream to finish out the night, perfect!
Potty training is tricky, but it's helpful if you have an atlas to look at while you sit!
The boys and I headed to Burr Ridge to test out a new splashpad area, very fun!
We dodged some storms to hit the local Tropical Sno place!
We had a group sleepover, the 1:1 ratio worked out well for sleeping.  Noah and I shared a room, Sam and Bamma shared another, and Isaac and Bampa were together.  Loving quality time with grandparents!
Another thing on the list: Indiana Dunes!

There was a lot of rock collecting!
Burying the Worst kids!
Sam got a turn getting covered too!
Double fisting brownies and rice krispie treats!
Birthday boy gets a GIANT treat from his godmother, Aunt Philie!
The kids all really like the surf this year, it was a great time!  And with 5 adults it was much more enjoyable knowing there were more eyes to watch everyone!
Bampa and Isaac enjoy some sand time together
Group shot of all 11 of us!  Hewes, Rodriguez, Worsts!
Get one for the family calendar!
 The worst 5!
The storms rolled in and we piled in the van to watch a movie while everyone took turns getting cleaned up!

The drive home was WAY longer than the drive there due to traffic, good thing we had some leftover treats to help get us through!
We hit the mall to trade in a duplicate Disney Infinity figure and he was able to pick out 2 new ones!
We headed to our local Schaumburg Boomers game with the Hewes crew in tow.  Sam was pretty excited about the cotton candy!  Noah was happy it was Harry Potter night and he was able to make his own wand!

Popcorn bag was almost as big as him, but he ate a big share of it!
Josh and Kjersten joined us too!

Highlight for Isaac might have been seeing Coop, the mascot!
 Yay for Bamma time!

It was a great night, not too hot or cold.
The game went LONG!  I had chosen a 6pm game (versus a later start time) thinking it would be done and we would watch fireworks around 9 or 9:30pm.  WRONG!  It went 13 innings!  Fireworks were at 10:15, but the kids (and grownups) were troopers!
So, yep, we've been busy as usual!  Trying to get in all the fun before we head back to school!
