The many uses of the boppy pillow

Ah yes, the fabulous boppy pillow. It has served us well for feeding, playing, sleeping, and other activities. Mike recently used it as a kind of yoke for Ellie. She didn't seem to mind it! Noah is a fan of sitting in it and pondering life's great mysteries (and perhaps falling asleep in the midst of all that heavy duty thinking).

To the lake, to the lake!

We had a very enjoyable holiday weekend! Noah had his first trip up to my parents lakehouse in Michigan. He was great on the car ride (slept both ways) and seemed to enjoy hanging with his grandparents, various aunts and uncles, and all his crazy cousins. Of course he had to wear his first swim/lake outfit even though he didn't take a dip in the 50 degree water. He looked so cute, but quickly decided he was not a fan of mommy playing dress up with him. He's officially 2 months old now and quite the bruiser.

Hair.. not the musical!

So, Noah got to meet a girl yesterday! I went to a party with all the speech pathologist from work and one of my co-workers brought her daughter, Molly. Molly is 10 days older than Noah. Check out her hair! We decided that if Noah and Molly ever got married and had kids, the children would probably resemble cute monkeys. I'm certain Noah impressed Molly with his ability to spit up on nearly everyone there!

The phantom poop!

So this morning, Noah and I were relaxing in bed together after he had eaten. In the mornings he is usually very smiley and this morning was no different, he was smiling and cooing at me. There was no poop face or sound from Noah to indicate what he was up to. Well, I picked him up and noticed he had pooped in our bed! He laughed and looked at Ellie as if to say (in his best Stewie Griffin voice), "Hey dog, dog, look what I've done! I've made doodie in their bed, ha!" There was nothing on his clothes, his diaper, his leg or anything! Somehow it magically made it's way out of him on to our bed, nice! Then he proceeded to spit up all over me, so it's been a messy start to the day! In other news, he's definitely getting more alert. He LOVES his bouncy seat and gets very focused when playing in it. That furrowed brow definitely comes from daddy!

A visit with Aunt Kelly

We got to have more fun with our buddy Fred on Thursday! Fred and Noah are about 6 weeks apart (Noah is 6 weeks, Fred is 12 weeks) so it's fun to see the changes in both of them. Fred is more of the "long and lanky" variety of baby, while Noah is quickly becoming the chubbier of the two. Our high school friend Kelly was in town from out east, so it was nice for her to meet "the boys." I'm sure in due time these two will be up to the same kind of toilet dumping pranks we were up to in high school.

The Chub-Chub

We took Noah to the pediatrician yesterday for a check up. He is now 11 lbs 4 oz and 22.25 inches long. For those keeping score, he was 7lbs 14 oz at birth and 7lbs 5 oz when he came home. So he's put on about 4 pounds in a little over a month. And he was 21 inches long at birth (20.25 inches long as measured by the pediatrician at his first visit), so he's grown about 2 inches. AMAZING!!!

Noah's Baptism

Noah was baptized this past Sunday at the Methodist church in LaGrange. He slept through almost the whole service, just woke up to poop/grunt/fart as he was being baptized and then smiled at the Pastor. The afternoon was spent partying at Grandma and Grandpa's house. He received some great gifts (including an assortment of cute hats for summer). The highlight was the signature quilt he got from all his Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. It was a fantastic day!

Hilllary & Dustin's Wedding

Last weekend, we went out to Dubuque for Hillary and Dustin's wedding. Noah did really well on the car ride, he slept both ways. We got to dance and hang out with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Val. Great time had by all!

The Suburban Mom Club

Noah and I took a trip to visit our friends Philie and Fred up in Palatine on Thursday. It was a beautiful day, perfect for a stroll. Philie and I realized how "mom-ish" we've become with the matching strollers and black yoga pants. It's was a bit surreal. We even got stopped by a friendly lady who commented that we looked like twins, yikes! Noah, of course, slept thru the entire affair while Fred played with his butterfly and tried not to laugh at his dorky Mom and Aunt as they discussed home prices, yard sizes, and incorporated versus unincorporated. All in all, it was a great day!

Sleeping positions

Lately, Noah has been impressing us with the sleeping positions he chooses to take. At night, he is swaddled up tight with velcro (think straight jacket), so I'm sure he's just enjoying the freedom of his limbs during the day. We think he learned the crazy arched back move from Ellie, since that's how she sleeps. I love the folded hands as he sleeps in the carrier! Now if we could just get him to STAY asleep for more than 3 hours at night we'd be in business. But I suppose that will come with time. Overall, he's still a prince! And yes, we are starting to believe the hair is thinning, but it could also be his little conehead rounding out too.
