We've been enjoying our spring break with some local fun this week. Last week, Noah celebrated his official birthday at school. It happened to fall on the same day as a class luau (where they celebrated the end of a social studies unit on Hawaii). So it was an EXTRA fun day and I was able to come see him at school!
Ms. Henry made them all grass skirts out of trash bags and they danced the hula and sang. It was awesome!
There was a poi eating contest (it was actually vanilla pudding). Noah and Gianna tied!
That evening, Noah selected 2 Toots (a train restaurant) for dinner for his birthday.
Happy 7th big guy!
His brothers were both happy to eat cupcakes along with him!
Train whistles for all!
This kid and his eyebrows, they go up towards the outside edge and I just love them!
We spent some time cleaning up the basement for Noah's dude/Lego party. And Sam picked out a new video game for him (Star Wars Lego). We enjoyed playing it for a bit on Friday to celebrate the start of our spring break!
Not to be left out, Isaac found a lego spaceship and pretended it was a controller as well.
Daddy was up late Friday working on Noah's cake, and got back up Saturday to continue his work. To "help" dad out, the boys took turns putting on his FitBit and ran around to assist him in getting his steps.
The final product! Another Dr. Mike masterpiece!
Saturday was the big party day! Each kiddo got a small lego kit and started building!
The great Lego wall comes tumbling down!
There was also some pinball action in the basement.
Cake time!
The bday crew from left to right, Noah, Sam, Fred, Isaac, Calvin, Andrew, Nico and Colin!
The Worsts brought Isaac a little Vader backpack, he loves it!
The Worsts stayed for some fun Pooh movie time and pizza.
Sunday we enjoyed a relaxing day of cookie baking and cookie eating.
Uncle Josh lead a nice little yoga session.
We began our "official" spring break on Monday with a visit to baby Xavier and Aunt Faith. The boys just love snuggling him, he's so sweet!
After we spent some time with him, we went and met Mike for lunch. It was a very nice day!
On Tuesday, we headed out to Aurora to the outlet mall. We returned something I had purchased in Iowa, stopped by the Disney outlet, and enjoyed some pretzels.
The boys enjoyed some turns on the motorized ride on toys there.
Isaac continues to show his preference for left-handedness, he even bats lefty!
Wednesday was a gorgeous day, so we (along with all of Chicagoland) headed to the zoo. Despite the crowds, we had a great time. We were even able to meet up with our neighbors and ran around with them for most of the day.
It's nice to see Isaac interact more with the animals now that he's older. He loved watching the turtles.
Sending Bamma a picture with a snake (she hates snakes) has become a zoo tradition. Note the snake slithering up just behind Isaac's head.
Ice cream to end the day and then got the heck out of there before the crowds became unbearable! Awesome day with my boys!
On Thursday we were able to meet up with the Minooka Benhart girls for lunch at Cheesecake Factory. We talked about our upcoming Disney trip in June, it was lovely.
And, of course, we came home with gifts from them. There appears to be a theme of "payback" going here as I may have purchased those girls some noisy toys in the past. Isaac was the delighted recipient of a drum set.
Sam is ridiculously giddy about his remote controlled fart machine.
And Noah is anxiously awaiting warmer temps so he can launch some water balloons!
What's that? I can't hear you! THANKS MEG!
So today, Friday, we had a pretty calm day with a playdate with one of Noah's friends and a trip to the library. It was a very nice week with a good balance of fun and of relaxation. Philie lent us her kid backpack for Disney. We had to test it out today, Isaac looks so regal perched up there. I think it's a viable option for quick trips to parades and such. Pretty comfy! And, because we had to try it just for kicks, Sam fits in it too!
So, whew, hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend! We look forward to spring like weather and more fun to come!
